Do you want to be inspired by the world’s top business leaders? You can definitely learn lessons from some of the greatest leaders of the 20th century. Here are some of them:
1. Henry Ford Henry Ford was easily one of the top business leaders of the 1900s. The founder of the Ford Motor Company was also important in the development in the modern assembly line method used in mass production. Ford was a game-changer in manufacturing. By the year 1914 his Michigan plant was using various innovative production technique. In fact, it could produce a completed chassis in about 15 hours. It was a huge improvement over the old process that took over 12 hours! Ford used several new innovations in production. That includes the assembly line, coordination of operations, and sub-divisions of labor. These innovations were critical in his development of the Model T. In fact, Ford’s techniques not only made him one of the top leaders but resulted in a new Ford Model T being completed every 24 seconds. Besides the assembly line itself, Ford also used other innovative techniques, which showed why he was one of top leaders. For example, Ford paid his workers $5 per day, which was almost twice the wages paid by other manufacturers at the time. He also cut the workday to 8 hours. 2. Steve Jobs Steve Jobs was one of the top business leaders twice at Apple. Before he co-founded the world’s most valuable company he first worked at Atari. Later Jobs and Steve Wozniak launched Apple Computer in 1976. The company’s first major computer the company worked on was the Apple II. Within a few years after launch the company became one of the Fortune 500 companies. Apple’s next major computer was the Macintosh, which debuted in 1984 and took three years to develop. Sales for the computer were high, but they started dropping by early 1985. Jobs left the company soon. However, he returned in 1997 and became the company’s CEO. This helped him to become one of the top business leaders once again. He helped to make Apple profitable again by launching products such as the iPod, iPhone, and iPad. The company later became the world’s most valuable company. 3. Bill Gates Here’s another interesting story about one of the top business leaders of the 1900s. At the age of 13 Gates did work for his school to find bugs. He also scored 1590 out of 1600 on the SAT. Gates later founded Microsoft in 1976. He was hired to develop an operating system to MITS. He also later created MS-DOS for IBM. Microsoft has become famous for its many versions of Windows OS. That includes Windows 94, Windows 2000, and Windows 10. The company has also branched off to video games including the Xbox One, and augmented reality through its HoloLens headset. Gates is now one of the wealthiest people in the world, and is worth tens of billions of dollars. He not only became one of the top business leaders but has a famous charitable foundation.
